Burning Feet In The Shower

- Tell me again why we came here? - She asked as she came down hard from the SUV. The man affectionately patted the long coat and walked to the door of the house before you answer, for the umpteenth time.
- We need to hire new staff before that crazy in charge of all remember us and choose whom to send.
- I have been chosen personally by him! - Replied by throwing annoyed glare before caressing the belly.
- That's right - someone said softly through the device connected to the human ear, making him smile.
- How are things at home, Ianto? - Cheerful voice asked Captain Harkness imagining her young lover, who rolled his eyes, exasperated while directing the work of reconstruction of the base.
- would be better if you do not erase the memory of the workers every night. It always takes more time to explain to them what they should do the next day - said the young dry.
- If all goes as I hope soon you'll have a small army of toy soldiers at your command, - said laughing while the bell rang.
After what seemed a long wait at all a man wearing a pink flowered apron opened the door.
- Yes? Looking for someone? - Asked affably while another man stood before him with him, pointing a weapon against the newcomers.
- Woa, calm! General O'Neill, I presume? - Asked Harkness with one of those smiles that usually captured men, women and aliens alike.
As soon as the general was found that there was no danger the two were admitted into the house and carried out in the living room where to sit while the man with the apron was going to prepare something to offer guests O'Neill drew a loud voice, and the third roommate, who arrived with a glass of scotch in his fingers.
McNeil rushed to hide behind the glass to a plant before you sit down, stand up, approach the woman and observed for endless seconds before sitting down again.
- I had never seen someone so attractive to walk around with teeth in that state - is justified before you get up and retrieve the glass. From the way they looked all that seemed a little 'courage alcohol could be helpful.
The situation seemed to stagnate when Sam Beckett came back with a tray full of homemade cookies and a carafe of hot coffee. He offered to make tea or anything else for Gwen but was assured that there was no need for which he took off his apron and sat down in turn.
- So what do we owe the honor of a visit by the Director of Torchwood in person? - O'Neill said that he wanted to make it clear to guests that he knew who they were.
- Apparently Jack and Ianto I decided that's not enough anymore - Gwen said, annoyed.
Captain Harkness had just put a cookie in your mouth but that did not stop him from taking the floor, looking to turn the hosts.
- We are currently short-staffed. We need a doctor, one who does not care an irregular working hours and who is willing to dissect cadavers, often of alien origin, as well as to mend better than the rest of the team. And before you object to Dr. McNeil, I remind you that his little problem with alcohol and betting to prevent it from continuing to practice here in the U.S.. We also need someone, preferably a genius, that recreate the network of the base, including all security protocols and I know from reliable sources that Samantha Carter would remain on Earth in a permanent position. And, General, we all know what you're getting bored since it was put in command Homeland Security, and I assure you that some 'of his experience would make us comfortable. Finally, Ianto is giving me the torment of that "little" accident with 456 saying that can not continue to take care of everything alone ...
- Being escaped death only through the persistent efforts of fans who do not accept the ending of Children of Earth, calling him "little incident"? - In the ear of the captain's voice interjected.
- Ianto, Ianto, Ianto, how much I love to hear your voice and your voice is not the time to distract me - trying to sidetrack Harkness said the young man who had listened to everything from his receiver.
- And that's why I had better come to me, diplomacy is not exactly his forte, sir, - answered promptly before shouting something to the workers who were rebuilding the conference room.
Jack took a sip of coffee, good though not great as that of His Welsh, and turned back to the people in the room.
- I was saying that we could use someone like her, Sam. Demonstrated excellent administrative and organizational skills by living with these two and may be useful to us his knowledge and that of his friend Al, provided you are still in touch, - he concluded, looking forward to a response.
- Why Us? - O'Neill asked, suspicious by nature.
- Jack, you talk about me! - Ianto ordered him in the ear.
Captain azionò a button on the vortex manipulator, as always, had the wrist and suddenly Ianto Jones's deep voice echoed through the room.
- Who else? You all have been set aside for one reason or another. We offer you the chance to return to make a difference, hunt aliens, mistreat patients, exploit new technologies and save the world a few times a week. If you do not do too much damage you will get paid for it. But if you prefer staying home to paint miniatures, baking cookies and playing with the play station I guess we can ask the next in line, - he concluded.
The owners decided to retire to the kitchen to confabulation with each other.
Gwen, remained silent until then seemed to come alive.
- I would like to know who selected the names, I would have come earlier by Logan Cale, Max Guevera and Wolverine, - he said absently.
- Now that I think about it, Ianto why did you choose them? - wanted to know the captain.
distinctly heard her sigh before the young man responded angrily.
- I do not get paid enough to watch you two flirt outrageously with the rest of the world.
Both tried to refuse, knowing that they were caught out and breathed a sigh of relief when O'Neill, Beckett and McNeil entered into the room.
- accepted the offer, on behalf of Colonel Carter - O'Neill said.
- But we have some requests, - said McNeil.
- and conditions - Beckett concluded.
Harkness got up smiling.
- Ianto takes care of everything, we are waiting for the inauguration of the new base. Come on Gwen, go home, - said satisfied himself on his way toward the door.
RTD could not find anything to object, plus choose perfectly capable people had maintained a tradition of not being able to go beyond the three most common names Jack and Sam, including two mixed up.

Torchwood: Aliens (prologue of "The Kid in the Candy Shop")

This short story was born a bit 'by accident while I was writing another, still working, and it is somehow the prologue.

Title: The stranger
Genre: General, melancholy
Rating: for all
Spoilers: TW: 2x05 Adam, and very distant CoE
Characters: Jack Harkness

Joy To The child had an adventurous spirit and loved to explore the surroundings, especially when she could escape the watchful eye of adults and could wander alone, telling all sorts of history and dreaming of a glorious future among the stars. He was afraid, like all the horrible alien creatures that tried to invade the colony for years but had not yet learned to be afraid of men, probably because this did not feel any fear on the day he met a stranger on the beach.
The man, tall and strong, wearing a long coat that flapped against his legs at every breath of wind, and seemed lost in thought, but suddenly turned to the child and smiled, though her eyes as blue as the sea were very sad.
for the child's first impulse was to ask him if he was lost. Nobody was ever on the Peninsula Boeshane unless you intend to settle in the community, but for some reason he was sure that this was not a settler.
- looking for you, - said, hoping to be reassuring.
The child stared at him for a long time, then a step closer.
- You come from far away, how can you know? - Said with the confidence typical of his age.
- It 's because I come from farther away than you can imagine. My world belongs to a parallel universe where your future is already was written, - tried to make him understand in the simplest way possible.
- So you know if I become an agent of the time and will travel between the stars and I will have many adventures? - Asked the boy, blue eyes bright with excitement.
- Not all the universes are equal, the fact that I'm talking to you in some way will change your future and I can only hope to make it less difficult than it was mine, - he explained, but the child's expression of doubt prompted him to change tactics.
- You can not even imagine the possibility that you will be offered, the wonderful people you meet, the adventures that you will live together, but you're old enough to know that can happen terrible and scary things.
The child nodded very seriously before the joy of the positive part of the story had the upper hand on his emotions.
- But can you tell me what to avoid? - Asked.
The man sighed before crouching to come face to face with the child.
- I can not reveal much because a friend taught me long ago that some events can not be changed to not run the risk of destabilizing the whole universe. But I'll tell you two important things I want you to remember them well - she stopped waiting. The child
rocked for a moment on the legs, then he nodded, ready to memorize what was said.
- Never let the hand of your brother. Maybe you'll be strong enough to not let it slip through your fingers, but if it should happen then look for it, never give up.
There was anguish in the voice of the man and the boy could not help but groped to console him, hugging him and promised he would do his best, even if the alien did not understand why he was so concerned about his brother.
lasted a few moments, the man stood up and pulled from his pocket a leather cuff often strange that proved to be a gimmick inside.
- This is a Vortex Manipulator. If you become an agent of the time you get one very similar one day but this has changed and you never show to anyone. E 'programmed to always take a certain person, someone who does not know yet but will be very important for you and you have so little time together you will want to know him much earlier. With this you can do it and every time you back up right where you left - closed to him.
The child held out his hand, uncertain brushed leather buttons and watched with curiosity. Then he raised his face to reveal a gaze full of questions.
- Why do not you use it?
The sadness in the eyes of man became more profound.
- Because in my world is no longer possible, but within you is still to be decided and you have everything that we have been denied.
He stood, the manipulator on the open hand, waiting for the child to decide whether to accept the gift. Do not disappoint him, took him carefully with both hands and placed it in a pocket. Then he looked up and thanked him, smiling as only an innocent child could do.
The man nodded and took a step back, getting ready to leave.
- Wait, you did not even say your name - said the little boy calling him.
had had a lot in life, but only one was given by people who had really loved.
- Jack - he said simply.
- It sounds strange, but I like it, - said the child.
- I hope so well, is an ancient form of your name, much used in the past on Earth - he explained.
- So now I'll call Jack, too! - Said the child, laughing as she watched the stranger who disappeared wrapped in a light beam.
