For Joy still waiting for the fanfic I had asked ...

Kate was taken aback. He had sometimes thought of presenting his cousin to his colleagues but had never expected to have to do at a crime scene and being caught under the eyes of everyone in the place of the corpse. She herself was looking Maura the impression of observing her reflection in a mirror. Many years before, in a moment of envy, she had dyed her hair to achieve the same shade of auburn of her cousin. The result of that experiment had been carefully erased from his memory, even if she was sure her mother remembered even now the state where he found the bathroom.
Maura had appeared on the scene and hospitable on its heels, a far cry from the image and informal practice in which Kate had used to having to work with Gibbs. Not to mention the sports car which had fallen, something that DiNozzo had salivary until the chief had not dealt a slap on the nape. He hated to hear a voice almost
identical to his call Caitlin with a hint of affectation, and especially hated to lose the attention of his colleagues for a woman who was almost his copy. Gibbs had flirted with Maura showing off a charm that usually only reserved for women suspected of any crime. Tony, as well as to do the same with the detective Rizzoli, had tried to discover any possible embarrassing news to her. Even Ducky was fascinated by his cousin, but was willing to excuse the senior pathologist, since none of his assistants had never been vaguely comparable.
smiled to himself, his affection for his cousin went beyond all possible envy or irritation. Maura, too bright and intelligent to have many friends, had grown in colleges scattered across Europe with Bass, the tortoise that Kate had given her when they were still children, as a faithful companion. Maura was for her sister, perhaps because there were too many years of difference with the real one, and was happy to have her magazine, that he warned the curious friendship that bound her to Jane Rizzoli and had resumed contact with her.
And then, if Gibbs had been fascinated by a woman who was almost her twin, meant that there was hope for her?
